I see a lot of owners who convince themselves that they have a loyal base because they have a store- but if you have to “brace for winter” that isn’t the case.

Diversify Revenue
We’ve mentioned that step 1 is predictable income. That income isn’t designed to make you rich, it’s actually quite mediocre if your tried living on it.
But it does buy you the freedom to chase other sources of revenue. Examples include fleet washing, semi-truck services, RV coatings- the list goes on and on.
Those can take 3-6 to close, and they are definitely aren’t free to pursue- but they are another source of income that you can count on year round.
The idea is to invest in those other sources of revenue until you get to the income level that you’re after. In reality, this is typically a 1-2 year process. It will do 2 things:
- Allow you to dominate the local market and guarantee longevity.
- Give you the income and knowledge to replicate to other locations
Prepare For Growth
Now that you have a successful shop you can use it as your proof of concept and expand into other markets. So far, we’ve been in the shallow waters.
The responsibilities of a multi unit operator are dramatically different than a single location. For example, C corps with more than 50 employees have to pay a special tax of anywhere from 2500-4500 a year per employee when they don’t offer health insurance.
And that is just a single item on a mile long to-do list.
You can imagine that we’ll need to invest in creating procedures, setting systems in place, and a lot of planning towards the future goal.
If you plan on franchising you’ll need a couple of shops under your belt- both as an additional proof of concept and as the experience you’ll gain will be more valuable than money itself.

Stability Scaling is not a fast process, and in reality can take 1-3 years. While your timeline will depend on your specific goals, you’re not going to be able to buy a jet next month.
